For Presenters

Submission of digital element and the session overview:

We look forward to engaging with your scholarship at this year’s Pre-Conference Poster Session on February 29th as well as the 15th annual College of Education Graduate Student Conference on March 1st. Below, you will find information relevant to your presentation format. Prior to the conference or pre-conference event you are participating in as a presenter, please submit the digital element of your presentation slides/handouts/ poster here.

I. Pre-Conference Poster Session

Please arrive at the Siebel Center for Design at 3:00 to set up for the poster session. You should prepare a standard-size (3’ x 4’) physical poster in a horizontal orientation and a digital version of the poster as a PowerPoint slide. The physical poster will be used for the exposition, during which you will have the opportunity to share your work with others. The slideshow will be displayed after opening remarks, and you will have the opportunity to preview your topic with a brief (~ 1 minute) elevator pitch.

You may find resources regarding poster formatting including templates and poster printing services at the UIUC Public Affairs website. Additionally, resources for printing posters at UIUC are available on the Illinois Library Guide

Session overview:

1. The poster session includes two sections: An elevator pitch and a Showcase presentation.

a. Elevator pitch: The session will start with each poster presenter giving an elevator pitch. In other words, each presenter(s) will give a one-minute lightning talk on the stage while using the digital version of their poster.

b. Showcase: After completing their talk, the presenter(s) will be stationed in front of their physical poster for the rest of the session.

2. The venue will be the Siebel Center for Design.
3. The lighting talk will be approximately an hour long.

4. This will be followed by the poster showcase which will be for an hour and 45 minutes. All posters will be showcased concurrently.
