Hedrick-Shaw earned his B.A. from the College of William & Mary, his M.A. from Teacher’s College, Columbia University, and his Ph.D. from the University of Colorado Boulder’s School of Education where he focused on two areas of study: Teacher Learning, Research, and Practice and Equity, Bilingualism, and Biliteracy.
What are your research interests?
Broadly, my interdisciplinary research agenda investigates the policies and pedagogies involved with preparing teachers to foster the kinds of learning environments that diverse multilingual students deserve in U.S. public schools. Additionally, I am currently working on research that considers the potential of queer theory and pedagogy to support anti-oppressive teacher learning and center LGBTQ+ experiences in bilingual education. My commitments to research and teaching are deeply rooted in my experiences as a bilingual (Spanish/English) elementary school teacher in New York City.
Congratulations! You've taken the first step to becoming a student of the College of Education. The application process is different for undergraduate and graduate studies.
