Offered entirely online through Coursera, you can earn your certificate in 4-7 months at a breakthrough price. If you are admitted to the full Master of Education (EdM) or Doctor of Education (EdD) program in Education Policy, Organization & Leadership (EPOL) from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, the credit from your MasterTrack™ Certificate counts towards your degree.

  • Developing an e-portfolio.
  • Creating a customized design plan for an organization.

The program is designed for working professionals who: 

  • Want to gain the skills needed to solve real-world challenges on the job and learn to integrate technology into today’s learning environments.
  • Aspire to be instructional designers or are instructional designers who want to expand their current skillset through two hands-on projects specifically designed to support your career advancement.
  • Desire to gain experience with models and theories that can be applied to improve technology-enriched and -enabled learning systems.

 Upon completion of this program, you will be able to:  

  • Learn to identify and apply the elements of a systematic design process.
  • Understand the language and terminology pertinent to the design of learning systems.
  • Identify major elements of instructional and learning system design models.
  • Analyze design models and theories against intended learning objectives.
  • Select design models and theories based on intended learning objectives.
  • Apply design models and theories to improve existing learning systems. 

Students who complete the Instructional Design MasterTrack™ program can apply the course credits earned towards a master's program upon admission to those programs.
