Event Description: Join the Accessibility Task Force for an interactive hybrid workshop designed for faculty, TAs, and staff in the College of Education to learn how to create accessible content in Canvas. This session will focus on essential strategies to ensure your course materials are inclusive and meet accessibility standards, providing equitable learning experiences for all students, including those using assistive technologies.
Session Focus:
Assess Canvas Course Accessibility: Learn how to evaluate your Canvas course for accessibility and identify areas for improvement.
Organize Content with an Accessible Structure: Learn how to utilize headings, lists, and proper formatting to improve screen reader compatibility.
Create Accessible Links and Media: Learn best practices for adding meaningful hyperlinks, captions, and transcripts to improve navigation and engagement.
Add Alternative Text for Visuals: Develop skills in adding alternative text to images, charts, and media files to ensure all content is accessible.
Leverage Canvas Accessibility Tools: Explore Canvas' built-in accessibility checker and Pope Tech to identify and fix common issues.
