Online Doctoral Students (EdD)- Resources

The Education Policy, Organization & Leadership Department offers the following four program concentrations for the Online EdD program:

  • Diversity and Equity in Education
  • Human Resource Development
  • Global Studies in Education
    • Subgroup: International Education Administration and Leadership
  • Learning Design and Leadership
    • Subgroups:
    • Foundations of eLearning Higher Education
    • New Learning
    • Technology Specialist

The online EdD degree is 64 total hours beyond the master’s degree and generally includes (though varies by concentration)-

Core (four courses) 16 hours
Methodology (three courses, one of which is EPOL 550) 12 hours
Electives (at least four courses, varies by concentration) 16 hours
Two Qualifying Exams (two courses)- credit hours vary by concentration 8 hours
Preliminary proposal EPOL 591 (one course) 4 hours
Dissertation Hours (one course, can be repeated up to 16 hours) 4-8 hours
Total64 hours
