We focus on the ways people teach & learn. The department cultivates outstanding educators interested in pursuing research, improving their teaching & enhancing their career. Our students are excellent teachers who become leaders in their fields and are highly recruited.
Students focus on one or more primary areas: curriculum, aesthetics, & teacher education. Students & faculty share interests & commitments to interdisciplinary, integrated approaches rather than one disciplinary focus.
Students seek to investigate and formalize theories, principles, and practices that focus on learning and teaching in digital environments, ranging from technology-enhanced classrooms to mobile devices to immersive virtual worlds.
Students explore both the broad issues facing language & literacy education through coursework and independent research. Students can focus on Bilingual/ESL education, Writing Studies, Early to Secondary Literacy, or Children's Literature.
Students raise and address vital questions about mathematics, science and engineering education. The MSE faculty support and encourage a wide variety of perspectives and research methodologies.
