Giving FAQs

In what ways can I give?

We have a variety of giving opportunities available! Learn more at our Types of Giving webpage.

Will my gift be tax deductible?

The University of Illinois Foundation is the official gift depository of the university and is a 501(c)3 charitable organization. Gifts are tax-deductible as allowed by law.

Can I give over a period of time?

Absolutely. Donors often pledge gifts to be made through a series of payments. Our staff are happy to work with you to establish a pledge commitment over time that suits your individual needs.

What is the University of Illinois Foundation Presidents Council and how can I become a member?

Members of the Presidents Council are recognized for having made outright gifts of $50,000 or more in their lifetime, as well as those who have made deferred gifts of $50,000 or more. Joint membership is extended to couples/partners who provide gifts at those levels.

How does private giving affect the university's overall budget?

Private funding is the critical factor in establishing the future of Education at Illinois because it helps our programs thrive and grow. Gifts from private donors ensure that we can attract the best faculty and students and offer academic programs of excellence.

I am a recent graduate. How can I support Education at Illinois?

Gift size is a decision each donor makes. Making a gift, regardless of size, sends a message of support to the College of Education and helps increase our percentage of alumni who give.

How do I get my IRS tax receipt?

Tax receipts are generally mailed to you within a week of receiving your donation.
