Two from College of Education named to State Committee on Teacher Licensure

Two from the College of Education have been named to a new committee by the State Superintendent of Education.
Catherine Corr, associate professor, Special Education, and Lynn Burdick, Director of Trauma Informed Education, Curriculum & Instruction were appointed by State Superintendent Tony Sanders to a newly created committee, which will make recommendations to the Illinois State Board of Education on teacher licensure.
The Committee will make recommendations to change the professional educator licensure requirements and Professional Educator License renewal requirements for kindergarten through grade 12 teachers to include demonstrated proficiency in adverse childhood experiences, trauma, secondary traumatic stress, and creating trauma-responsive learning environments or communities.
