EPOL professor Yoon Pak discusses upcoming Supreme Court case on Portland radio program

Yoon Pak, an associate professor in the Department of Education Policy, Organization & Leadership, was featured on a September 7 radio program called APA Compass. The show aired on KBOO radio in Portland, Oregon, and Pak was one of three panelists to discuss the upcoming Supreme Court case Fisher v. University of Texas-Austin and the impact of affirmative action on Asian American communities.

APA Compass is a collectively produced public affairs program. It strives to provide a forum for dialogue, exploration, and dissemination of issues pertinent to Asian Pacific American (APA) communities; to unite, politicize and empower APAs; and to raise awareness of social and economic justice issues, among other objectives.

Pak's research focuses on democratic citizenship, Americanization, and acculturation of ethnic minorities and immigrant groups in the U.S.; comparative approaches to democratic and tolerance education during the Progressive Era; history of U.S. education in the early twentieth century; and Higher Education and experiences of Asian and Asian American students.
