Barclay, Weber awarded Cool Web Site Award

The IEP Quality Project web site was awarded one of four Cool Web Site Awards given by the Campus Webmasters at the 9th Annual Webmaster Forum. The web site was created by John Barclay and Rachel Weber from the college's Network Applications Group.
The web site is a tutorial and decision-making support system that will help teachers create better-quality standards-referenced Individual Education Programs. It was created as part of a research project being conducted by Professor Jim Shriner (Special Education).
The development process for the site was described by judges as "confident, steady, and well thought out" and included extensive usability testing, thorough documentation, and user training. "The pilot use of this application is very impressive and is gaining a respect from the Illinois State Board of Education," they stated. The Group's efficient use of the Drupal content management system, coupled with custom programming and interface development, won the respect of the judging panel.
But the site ultimately rose to the top for its exemplary level of accessibility: 100% according to the University's Functional Accessibility Evaluator. Developers in the Network Applications Group have always demonstrated a commitment to accessibility, and are widely-known as campus leaders in the development of well-structured, accessible web sites.
