The CEMUDC CERT:

• Aims to be interdisciplinary to holistically train individuals and support their understanding of the need for multi-faceted approaches required to be effective and sustainable. The program is comprehensive in increasing awareness, assessing the needs of stakeholders, designing solutions, and evaluating outcomes. 
• Draws upon cutting-edge cancer research and innovative educational approaches to promote the systematic inclusion of research findings and evidence-based practices into the routine practice of cancer management in URC.
• Covers foundational knowledge and competencies in diversity and health disparities; human interactions, relations, and communications; cancer biology and diseases; and the implementation and evaluation of cancer management innovations. 
• Will train individuals to identify factors prominent in URC that impact the application of cancer management innovations across multiple levels, including patient, provider, clinic, facility, organization, and often the broader community and policy environment. The program is geared toward producing capable individuals who can effectively address disparities in cancer among URCs.

Upon completion of this program, you will be able to:

• Engage with underrepresented communities (URC) to promote innovative cancer management interventions (ICMI).
• Assess the needs of URC for ICMI.
• Design solutions to implement ICMI into URC with sustainable efficacies.
• Coordinate the implementation of ICMI for translational impact.
• Evaluate the outcomes of ICMI for continuous improvement in evidence-based practices.

Individuals completing this Campus Graduate Certificate (CERT) program can apply the course credits earned towards a master’s or doctorate program in Education Policy, Organization, and Leadership, upon admission to those programs.

Current students can add this certificate to their program of study while they earn their degree at the University of Illinois!
