College of Education Room 4F
Event Type: Lecture
In this talk, professors Nihad Bunar and Anna Lund (Stockholm University) will discuss challenges and opportunities associated with the arrival of over 100,000 migrant and asylum-seeking school-aged children and youth to Sweden since 2015.
Within this presentation, Professor Lund will discuss her research focusing on two Somali Muslim women who came to Sweden in their teens. Through analysis of these women’s experiences, Professor Lund will offer insights on how conditions for learning for newly resettled migrant youth are related to networks of friends, family and the local community, as well as individual learning/educational histories, agency and hopes for the future.
