Speaker: Dr. Robert Stake, Professor Emeritus

Robert Stake is former director of the Center for Instructional Research and Curriculum Evaluation at the University of Illinois. Since 1965, he has been a specialist in the evaluation of educational programs, emphasizing qualitative methods, particularly case study. Stake has authored Quieting Reform, a meta-evaluation of Charles Murray’s evaluation of Cities-in-Schools; five books on research methods, Standards-Based and Responsive Evaluation, Evaluating the Arts in Education, The Art of Case Study Research, Multicase Research Methods, and Qualitative Research: Studying How Things Work. He received the Lazarsfeld Award from the American Evaluation Association and honorary doctorates from the University of Uppsala and the University of Valladolid. In 2007, he received the Presidential Citation from the American Educational Research Association for work in evaluation, qualitative methods, and studies of arts education. In 2011, he was awarded the Career Research Award by the International Congress of Qualitative Inquiry.
