This seminar at the College of Education at Illinois will review a series of research studies designed to increase teacher involvement in functional behavior assessment and function-based intervention with children with challenging behaviors.
Event Type: Lecture
Speaker Information: Dr. Mandy Rispoli
Previous research has shown that early intervention is key to promoting positive life outcomes for children with challenging behaviors, including children with autism spectrum disorder (ASD). Yet, preschool teachers are often untrained and under supported in ASD research-based pedagogy and practices. There is a critical need to improve teacher access to high quality training and support for assessing, preventing, and responding to challenging behavior in the classroom. This seminar will review a series of research studies designed to increase teacher involvement in functional behavior assessment and function-based intervention with children with challenging behaviors.
