"Research on Pedagogical Agents: How Making Computers More Human-Like Can Improve Learning"
Lane is an associate professor in the Department of Educational Psychology. His talk will summarize lessons learned from his experiences deploying pedagogical agents in informal learning environments, and address the many risks of haphazardly including a pedagogical agent in a learning environment. He will also review key empirical findings that pedagogical agents have enabled researchers to pursue and conclude with a discussion of different visions of the future of pedagogical agents, including thoughts on associated ethical and practical aspects of their adoption.
