I Hotel and Conference Center (1900 S. First St., Champaign), Illinois Ballroom

Dr. Nancy C. Brady will be the guest lecturer at the 2017 Goldstick Family Lecture in the Study of Communication Disorders taking place at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign campus.

Event Type: Lecture

Acting on their desire to help children and their families in a tangible way, Phillip C. and Beverly Kramer Goldstick generously endowed a sustainable training and research program in the area of communication disorders in the Department of Special Education at the College of Education at Illinois.

Each year, the initiative, along with today's Goldstick Family Lecture, continues to provide information on new methods and practices to families and professionals to ensure that children with a range of abilities have the opportunity to live as independently as possible in their homes, neighborhoods, and communities.

The keynote speaker at this year's lecture is Dr. Nancy C. Brady, associate professor and investigator in the Life Span Studies at the University of Kansas. She will describe the research and clinical activities that have led to the development of a tool to measure non-speech communication that can be used with almost everyone. Dr. Brady will also discuss how those in the field are using the tool to measure the progress of two different communication interventions.

A reception will follow the talk.
