In this discussion, Dr. Amalia Dache-Gerbino will explore terms such as “college student” and “criminal” informed by her most recent co-authored publication “College Students or Criminals? A Postcolonial Geographic Analysis of the Social Field of Whiteness at an Urban Community College Branch Campus and Suburban Main Campus” (Dache-Gerbino & White, 2016) in Community College Review. She will discuss the use of Geographic Information Systems (GIS) combined with critical approaches to the study geography and college access.
