A range of new devices in the last decade have allowed us to move away from the personal computer as the sole tool for computer-supported collaborative learning (CSCL), and consider a wider range of interactions and learning opportunities with and through technology. For the study of CSCL, these technologies provide vast opportunities to change the way in which learning happens in classrooms and the way in which teachers orchestrate the learning process. In this talk, I will share data from my previous work in the multi-touch classroom in the UK, and initial work on a project examining creating classroom technology to teach engineering practices in introductory courses.
