Implementing Illinois’ Teaching Equitable Asian American Community History (TEAACH) Act
Event Type: Webinar
Illinois was the first state in the nation to mandate the teaching of Asian American histories in K-12 classrooms and libraries. During this webinar, the TEAACH Team at Illinois will provide a unique professional learning opportunity for teachers, librarians, administrators, curriculum designers, and peers who are interested in implementing Illinois’ Teaching Equitable Asian American Community History (TEAACH) Act.
This online event will cover the basics of Asian American community history and instructional strategies. Asian Americans are the fastest growing demographic group in the United States, yet these racialized histories remain untold in K-12 classrooms and libraries. Illinois educators are leading the charge to change this legacy with laws and learning opportunities like this one. Gain tools for becoming a more critical, inclusive, and culturally responsive educator.
Illinois educators can earn one professional-development hour for this event.
