2012-2013 William Chandler Bagley Doctoral Scholarship

Please note: Students will be invited to apply by their Academic Department. The College of Education Faculty and Academic Departments are encouraged to identify top candidates for this Scholarship.

The College of Education designates outstanding, currently enrolled, doctoral students as Bagley Scholars. These awards are funded from gifts of alumni and friends of the College of Education and named after William Chandler Bagley, an early Director of the former School of Education, who is known for his insistence that both formal training and experience are needed to promote good educational practice. Please note: Graduate students employed as Staff by the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign are not eligible for a College of Education Award or Scholarship.

Doctoral scholars are eligible for a maximum of two Bagley scholarships and receive a taxable award of $2,000 payable in two installments (1/2 in fall; 1/2 in spring) which will be applied to their student account.
