Inter-College Transfer to Pre-Teacher Education

The Pre-Teacher Education curriculum is a non-degree program designed for students with less than 60 hours who intend to apply to a degree-granting major in the College of Education. Students wishing to apply to the Secondary Education minor should apply directly to the major department in the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences.

Current University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign students may apply to the Pre-Teacher Education Program for their sophomore year. The deadlines for submission of the application are:

Entry in Fall 2012

  • February 27, 2012 – April 2, 2012
  • August 14, 2012 - August 31, 2012

Entry in Spring 2012

  • October 3, 2011 - October 28, 2011

Informational meetings are held regularly, Wednesday's at 4 p.m., to provide information and advise on the application process. Students are encouraged to attend prior to their intended admission period. Sessions are posted on the college web calendar and are available here.

Students interested in applying should:

  • Read the PowerPoint presentation on the Inter-College Transfer process (ICT).
  • Review the prerequisites:
    • Complete two semesters in their current Illinois College.
    • A minimum University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and cumulative grade point average of 2.5.
    • Less than 60 hours.
  • E-mail the Pre-Teacher Academic Advisor, if you have questions.

Complete and submit the Authorization to Change Colleges. Applicants can complete the form electronically and print it for submission using Adobe Acrobat Reader. Adobe Acrobat Reader can be downloaded, free of charge, from the Adobe web site.
