The Illinois State Board of Education offers microcredentials for Illinois educators as a way to demonstrate additional competencies in specialized subjects. This Trauma-Informed Education (TIE) microcredential introduces trauma-informed education, covering key concepts, equity issues, and practical strategies for applying trauma-sensitive practices in educational settings. The microcredential has 10 asynchronous, self-paced modules, each divided into multiple sections.
Each module provides important content knowledge, as well as activities and opportunities to reflect on your learning.
Illinois teachers are eligible to receive 20 Professional Development Hours (PDH) upon successful completion of the Trauma-Informed Education microcredential. In addition, successful completers will be eligible to receive a permanent notation on their Professional Educator Licenses (PEL) that shows current and future employers that they completed a microcredential in Trauma-Informed Education.
