As the School - University Research Coordinator Dr. Hegeman-Davis manages and develops research relations with school districts including facilitating partnerships for college & campus faculty & student research; advising on best practices and project feasibility; soliciting letters of support from school districts for external funding proposals.
Dr. Hegeman-Davis is also the liaison to OPRS with regards to all K-12 research IRB issues and developments and works proactively with other units on campus to develop connections with the College of Education researchers for collaborations.
Dr. Hegeman-Davis also plays a leadership role in the K-12 Computer Science Education Program. In this role she manages development of a new secondary endorsement in CS Education and the first pre-service licensure program in the State of Illinois.
She also leads a diverse advisory committee in the creation and management of the Illinois Statewide K-12 CS Ed Summit, is a liaison with the State Board of Education and Office of the Governor to promote and develop CS education statewide policies, and works to identify, develop, and coordinate grant funded CS education partnerships including Discovery Partners Institute, University of Chicago, and UI Extension.
