Specific Course Topics
- Articulate AI Literacy and Its Foundational Principles
Build a working understanding of what AI is, how it already shows up in students' lives, and what responsible classroom use looks like at the state and national level. You'll develop the course's foundational artifact: a classroom AI use policy covering definitions, student and teacher guidelines, data privacy, transparency, ethics, and academic integrity. - Design AI-Integrated Learning Experiences
Turn AI literacy into instructional design, examining how AI is reshaping learning and where it can deepen rather than replace student thinking. You'll design an AI-integrated lesson or unit plan, tied to your subject-area standards, that uses AI to differentiate instruction and inform formative assessment. - Address Equity, Access, and Family Communication
Move from what you'll do to how you'll bring students and families along, grounding the work in an honest account of what AI can and cannot do reliably and in questions of equity and access. You'll produce a student and family communication package that explains your classroom's AI approach clearly, thoroughly, and accessibly to both students and families. - Reflect on Your AI Integration Journey
In this capstone, you'll step back and make sense of the policy, lesson plan, and communication materials you built across the course. You'll compose a reflective analysis that connects your AI integration work to your teaching values and your growth as a professional.
