Google Slides Grackle Workshop
Join us to learn practical strategies for creating more digitally accessible and inclusive Google Slides presentations!
Date and Time: September 23 from 11:00–11:55 a.m.
Location: ED 192 or online via Zoom
Campus now has a digital accessibility checker for Google Slides!
This hybrid workshop will guide faculty and teaching assistants through key accessibility features and best practices in Google Slides using Grackle Slides, an accessibility checking and remediation tool. You’ll learn how to create presentations that are easier for everyone to navigate and understand while applying accessibility techniques directly to your own slides.
These practices will also help you make progress toward meeting the ADA Title II accessibility requirements that must be in place for all courses by April 2027.
Key takeaways:
Create a clear structure for your slides.
Add meaningful alt text to images and other visual content.
Write descriptive link text.
Check color contrast and use readable fonts.
Use Grackle Slides to identify accessibility issues and apply recommended fixes.
Bring a laptop and a Google Slides presentation to work on during the session.
You will need to access your presentation using your University of Illinois Google account. Learn how to use your university Google account.
