Join members of the Accessibility Taskforce for a hands-on hybrid working session focused on improving heading accessibility in your Canvas courses. This session is designed specifically for College of Education faculty and TAs who want to better understand how to structure course content with accessible headings and have dedicated time to begin applying these changes with direct support.
Session Focus:
- Learn Best Practices for Accessible Headings: Understand why heading structure matters for screen reader navigation and how to properly apply heading levels in Canvas.
- Hands-On Editing Time: Bring your own device and course materials. This session includes time to update your Canvas pages with accessible heading structures directly.
- Real-Time Support from Taskforce Members: Get individual guidance, feedback, and troubleshooting help as you work on your course content.
- Canvas Accessibility Tools Overview: Learn how to use the built-in Canvas Accessibility Checker to evaluate heading structure and address other related issues.
Learning Outcomes:
By the end of this session, participants will:
- Understand the role of heading structure in accessibility and screen reader navigation.
- Apply correct heading styles within their own Canvas courses.
- Use Canvas tools to identify and resolve heading-related accessibility issues.
