Admissions

The admission process to the College of Education, Department of Special Education depends on what type of degree you are seeking (graduate or undergraduate) and what field of study you want to pursue. Also, if you are an international student coming to Illinois to study, there are some additional requirements you will need to meet. Find out more about how you join us with the links below:

Undergraduate Admissions in Special Education

Applicants with interest in admission to an the Undergraduate Program in Special Education should submit an application to the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. Undergraduate applications, requirements, and admissions procedures can be obtained through the Office of Admissions and Office of the Registrar . Potential students are encouraged to contact the Student Academic Affairs Office for more information pertaining to undergraduate programs in the College of Education.

Application Deadlines in Special Education

Master's Degree Programs

Please note the following deadlines for full consideration for admission to the master's degree programs.  All required application materials must be on file by these deadlines:

Doctoral Degree Program

Applications to our Doctoral Program are due December 1st to be considered for full funding and competitive scholarships.  However, doctoral applications can be submitted any time up until February 1st with consideration for funding if assistantships are still available. Doctoral applicants are considered for Fall Semester Admission.
