Study abroad in Costa Rica!

During this spring break study abroad opportunity, students will work in local schools and live with families in San Joaquin de Flores. We will also visit Bocas del Toro, Panama, stay overnight in Monteverde for a guided reserve tour and ziplining, and travel to Cartago Basilica de Los Angeles to see the Irazu volcano. Students will also experience holy week processions in San Joaquin.

*This program is associated with a full-credit 6 week online course. There will be four weeks of class prior to the trip, and two weeks post-trip. Please be aware of this when committing to the program and realize that there will be various readings and assignments due throughout the course, as well as a final project at the end.*

: Airfare, housing, most meals, ground travel, tourist activities, lectures. 


March 17- Arrival date, first day with families in San Joaquin de Flores
March 18-19- Trip to Bocas del Toro, Panama
March 20- Working at a local school in San Joaquin 
March 21- Trip to Monteverde, ziplining, overnight in Monteverde
March 22- Monteverde Reserve guided tour
March 23- Holy week begins. Day with the families, Procesion del Encuentro

March 24- Visit to Cartago, Basilica de Los Angeles, Irazu volcano
March 25- Return to USA

The College of Education will provide qualified students with a $500 scholarship for studying abroad. Please plan to budget an additional $600-$1000 for ground transportation, some meals, thank you gifts for your homestay family and host teachers, tourist activities, other incidentals including international student insurance ($75 billed to your student account).
