The Chinese Culture and Language Camp aims to promote early second language development and culture learning through Chinese immersion in a fun, safe, and stimulating environment by providing bilingual teaching experts of the College of Education and innovative curriculum.

The camp focuses on three aspects: language, culture and research. The campers will be divided into groups based on their age and Chinese level. The teaching will be interactive and individualized. All the teachers are bilingual speakers and have a master degree in education or higher.

Chinese lessons will be delivered in small groups and one-on-one instructions with a focus on the utilitarian aspects of the language. The curriculum is designed based on the theme of the day. The themes are Chinese New Year, Chinese School Day, Chinese Moon Festival, Chinese Restaurant, and Arrival in China.

The culture aspect includes creating Chinese cultural crafts (e.g., Terracotta soldiers, Peking Opera Mask, Chinese painting, Chinese calligraphy, Chinese paper cutting, etc.), Chinese martial arts and Chinese traditional games.

The research aspect includes creating a hands-on project or a writing project based on the camper's age with a focus on the subjects related to China, Chinese language or Chinese culture.

Camp Audience

The camp is open to kindergartner to fifth-graders who want to explore Chinese and further develop their Chinese. Campers will have the opportunity to explore or continue developing Chinese and gain knowledge of the rich cultural traditions of the Chinese-speaking world through stories, games, martial arts, music, food, calligraphy, crafts, and field trips, while being immersed in Chinese.

Morning snacks and afternoon snacks are provided. Lunch are not provided. Campers must bring their own lunch. We are a nut-free environment.

Spaces are limited to 20 participants. Your spot will only be secured upon the receipt of your payment.
