Education at Illinois alumna Tamara L. Hoff, M.A. '08 EPOL, Ph.D. '15 EPOL, will be one of the featured speakers at this event, which will cover the early years of African-American students at Illinois. Hoff's presentation, "From Margin to Center: Black Women Students at the University of Illinois," will explore how the earliest black women at the University of Illinois understood the aims and values of education in relation to gender and racial progress.
Opening remarks will be made by Chancellor Robert Jones.
