Ready to bring more color and visual flair to your Canvas course, while keeping it accessible for all learners? Join the Accessibility Taskforce for a hybrid working session focused on color contrast and how to use color effectively and inclusively in your course design. This session is perfect for College of Education faculty who want their course content to be both visually engaging and accessible to students using assistive technologies. 

Session Focus: 

• Design with Inclusive Color Use: Learn how color choices affect readability and screen reader users, and how to apply accessible color combinations that enhance, not hinder, the student experience. 

• Evaluate and Fix Color Contrast Issues: Use Canvas tools and browser-based checkers to identify low-contrast text and visuals in your existing content. 

• Add Color Thoughtfully: Discover creative ways to use color to organize content, highlight key ideas, and improve visual appeal, without sacrificing accessibility. 

• Hands-On Working Time: Bring your Canvas course and apply what you’ve learned during the session, with live guidance from Accessibility Taskforce members. 

Learning Outcomes: 
By the end of this session, participants will be able to: 

• Identify and correct color contrast issues in their Canvas course content. 

• Use color to improve visual hierarchy and student engagement in an accessible way. 

• Utilize tools to ensure that color use supports all learners, including those with visual impairments.
