 e of the delights of mathematics teacher preparation is the opportunity to
  work with and learn alongside pre-service teachers of mathematics\, to de
 velop relationships\, and to follow the trajectory of their journeys as ma
 thematics educators. We live in a robust epoch of mathematics teacher educ
 ation\, with much research about both teaching and learning mathematics an
 d a growing community of resources and scholars to inform our practice fro
 m multiple perspectives. In this “brave new world”\, we continue to learn 
 and increase our mathematical knowledge for teaching. In this talk\, Tim H
 endrix will explore some mathematical ideas that continue to reappear over
  time and how those ideas translate into challenges and opportunities in t
 eaching mathematics and methods courses.\nTim Hendrix is an alumnus of UIU
 C (M.S. in Mathematics\, M.S. in Music Education\, Ph.D in Curriculum &amp
 \; Instruction) and a former staff member of MSTE. Currently\, Tim is an A
 ssociate Professor of Mathematics at Meredith College\, a private liberal 
 arts college for women in Raleigh\, NC. Actively involved in the Associati
 on of Mathematics Teacher Educators (AMTE)\, Tim has served as Executive D
