Process for Linking Tutors with Teachers.

Once students have submitted a volunteer application and cleared their background check, the voluteer coordinator contacts students to come in for an orientation.  At the orientation, students choose a day and time to volunteer selected from a list based on teacher needs.

Orientation Provided

Interested in volunteering at a high school in Champaign?  Please plan to attend ONE of the scheduled orientation sessions on campus.  Tutors will learn more about volunteering at the high school level and will have the opportunity to sign up for a timeslot and class in which to volunteer.

Orientations are scheduled every semester-contact Coordinator for dates or to arrange an individual orientation.

Describe the Procedure for Signing up for Tutoring

Students should submit to the volunteer coordinator an application and a background check to get started.  Summary of your rights under the FCRA is available for your information.

The last week of February.

Questions/Comments From the Coordinator?

America Reads tutors are paid. The volunteer coordinator only coordinates the volunteers in the schools. Since the America Reads are paid this is coordinated by someone else (Danielle Gray) in Franklin.
