Process for Linking Tutors with Teachers.
Typically, the coordinators contacts teachers with a particular student's availability and grade preference(s). If more than one teacher responds, matches are made on a first come/first served basis.
Orientation Provided
The Volunteer Coordinator holds a formal meeting and a one-on-one meeting with students if they can't attend the
meeting.
The coordinated has held formal orientations with specific groups. On Thursday, January 27, the coordinator is meeting with the Speech and Hearing Sciences students on campus at 12:30 and 2. Typically formal orientations with students from Spanish 232; however, nothing has been scheduled as of yet for this semester.
Describe the Procedure for Signing up for Tutoring
The coordinator is flexible on this. Generally, students contact her via email and in response, a volunteer application and criminal background check are sent. Once they have been cleared through the district, the coordinator contacts them and goes through the orientation unless they've already been part of a formal group orientation. A summary of your rights under the FCRA is availble online.
