Barbara Hug, Curriculum and Instruction Science Education, has taught courses in the design and creation of learning environments that support teachers and students as they learn challenging science content as well as courses focused on reform in science education. She has a PhD in developmental biology.
Sarah Lubienski, Curriculum and Instruction Mathematics Education, has taught courses in mathematics for elementary teachers, problem solving, teaching methods, equity issues, and research methods.
Margery Osborne, CI Science Education, has taught courses in inquiry teaching and equity. She teaches in both the elementary and early childhood teacher education programs. She has a PhD in geology.

Entomology
May Berenbaum, Department of Entomology is the head of the entomology department and a member of the National Academy of Sciences. She has been active in developing educational opportunities for k-12 teachers and has been an active participant in a current IMSP working with local middle and high school teachers.
Jim Nardi, Department of Entomology, researches insects, with funding from the National Science Foundation, NIH, and the U.S. Department of Agriculture. He has been involved in outreach programs sponsored by Champaign County Audubon Society, the Illinois Natural History Survey, and the Urbana Park District. He is author and illustrator of four popular books on natural history
Math
Alison Ahlgren, Mathematics is the quantitative reasoning coordinator and a lead instructor in UIUC’s Mathematics Department. She has designed an innovative mathematics course that teaches substantial mathematical content in a manner that allows students to apply it to meaningful everyday contexts.
Peter Braunfeld, Mathematics is a professor emeritus, both in the Department of Mathematics and the CI Department. For 50 years he has worked in a wide variety of areas of mathematics education, including: curriculum development, pre-service teacher education, teacher professional development, and applications of technology.
School for Earth Systems and Society
Donna Charlevoix, Dept. of Atmospheric Sciences focuses on teaching and learning in physical science classes where she educates future science faculty (graduate students) in best teaching practices via teaching courses, mentoring, and supervising graduate teaching assistants. She is developing a course for preservice elementary teachers in atmospheric sciences and is interested in developing a similar course for inservice teachers as part of our program.
Jon Tomkin, School of Earth Systems, Environment and Society is a Geophysicist with an emphasis on the geodynamic interactions between climate change, surface processes, and tectonic forcing. Education interests include supporting non-traditional students in the Earth sciences. He currently is heading up the redesign of the undergraduate and graduate education courses within the School of Earth Systems, Environment and Society.

Illinois Natural History Survey
Mike Jeffords, is a senior professional scientist (entomologist) and education/outreach coordinator for the Illinois Natural History Survey. He has extensive experience in "translating" science for a wide audience that includes several projects for elementary and middle school teachers. He also has developed two mobile science centers that travel around the state of Illinois.
