Volunteer Opportunities

The Center for Education in Small Urban Communities supports school-university-community partnership efforts related to volunteer involvement programs focused on youth in Champaign and Urbana public schools.

A variety of opportunities are available for University of Illinois students to provide academic support to youth in our local public schools, either during the school day or in after-school programs. Students are encouraged to share their time and talents with children in the local community. Not only will university students gain valuable experience working with children, but they will also make a much appreciated contribution to the community.

The Center is also able to help connect teachers in the public schools with a variety of resources available at the University of Illinois. Besides offering academic assistance as a tutor or classroom aide, University students can serve as a valuable resource for classroom enrichment as they share their knowledge and skills to support the curriculum and enhance learning.

The Center works closely with the Champaign and Urbana public schools to strategically match university students, staff, and faculty with district needs and opportunities. For additional information related to volunteering, please contact:
