SOAR: Student Opportunities for After-School Resources

SOAR is an after-school program intended to supplement the efforts of educators at a local public elementary school and improve the reading literacy skills of children in kindergarten through fifth grade.  Hosted by Booker T. Washington Elementary School in Champaign, IL, the SOAR program provides homework and reading help, along with enrichment activities, to children who are most in need of some extra help to boost their academic interest and ability.

SOAR (Student Opportunities for After-School Resources) is a collaboration of the Graduate School of Library and Information Science, the College of Education, Booker T. Washington Elementary School, and Don Moyer Boys and Girls Club.
