Bilingual/ ESL Endorsement
The Bilingual/ESL Endorsement represents an opportunity to build upon the shared expertise of C&I faculty and faculty in the Linguistics Department.
Students will study foundations of Bilingual and ESL education, second language acquisition and different methods of teaching, learning and assessment in a bilingual environment. This program targets a national audience interested in P-12 bilingual and ESL education for teachers and will provide the coursework necessary to obtain the State of Illinois ESL endorsement and the State of Illinois Bilingual endorsement*.

Provides course work for the K-4 and 9-12 endorsement. For grades 5-8, you will need to complete additional courses for the Middle Grades Endorsement. Those seeking Illinois endorsements will also need to satisfy the practicum requirement(s) for the endorsement(s) and, pass the appropriate ICTS Target Language Proficiency Test for the bilingual endorsement.
**Note: New to online? There will be online training/orientation for all registered students prior to the course start dates.

Due to the university funding structure, students cannot use university employee tuition waivers or University of Illinois cooperating teacher waivers for Education Online courses. Other employer tuition waivers, military waivers, and Veteran's grants are not affected by this policy. On-campus master's degree programs in the College of Education do accept tuition waivers.
