Uruguay Summer Study Abroad Program

May-June, 2017

The Women in Business and Technology and Education summer program at University ORT Uruguay is a unique opportunity for women in Engineering, Business,  ACES and Education majors.  During this four week program, students will take an intensive Spanish Language and Culture course, participate in a Talk Series designed specifically for Women in Technology and Business, go on program related site visits, work with local high school students and participate in Workshops geared toward technology and business.

Education students will study the Uruguayan Education system and visit local schools to interact with both teachers and students.  In addition to traveling and studying with STEM students, this program gives future teachers first hand experience in Latin American education culture and the opportunity to learn and practice conversational Spanish---valuable tools for future teachers.

All students will take 1 day trips to Colonia del Scaramento and a typical Uruguayan farm.  Students will also participate in a weekend trip to Buenos Aires, Argentina for a long weekend during the middle of the program.  With the exception of the ferry costs, the cost for this long weekend is built into the program fee.  This includes accommodations, at least 2 meals, transfers to/from ferry, and a guided tour in Buenos Aires.
