Study Abroad in Alta Gracia, Argentina

May 20 to June 20, 2016

The Argentina Study Abroad trip a 3½ -week school-related educational experience.  The purpose of this study abroad is to learn as much about another culture and language as we can in order to learn about ourselves as beginning teachers. Spending time in schools in another culture helps us understand what it is like to be culturally different in US schools and thus to be more culturally sensitive teachers.

Participants will be assigned to a classroom (K-8) for Monday through Thursday each week in one of three very different schools in Alta Gracia. Schools are in session for half days so the placement will be for half day and the other half of the day you will visit other classrooms and schools. There will be after school activities that we will organize and also a study group meeting twice a week. We will also participate in the evenings with students in a teacher education program in Alta Gracia.  On the second and third weekend, we leave Fridays on a bus to go a rural areas and Cordoba (40 minutes ride to a nearby large city) to see different kinds of schools and tourist areas/activities. The first 3 days we spend in Buenos Aires as tourists.  Weebly site: .
