From helping you through the early years of your teaching career to providing online programs where you can earn an advanced degree from your home, we probably have something for you.

Summer Offerings for Teachers, Administrators and Technology Coordinators

Each summer, the College of Education sponsors a number of professional development opportunities for practicing educators in Illinois. These courses and seminars offer teachers, administrators and technology coordinators the chance to learn about new methods and tools to enhance student learning and performance.

Many practicing educators will tell you that earning a master's or a doctoral degree from the College while you continue to work in your profession is a great way to advance your career and to improve the learning experience of your students. Moveable Feast

A Moveable Feast is a one-week summer institute organized by the Office of the CIO in the College and held at sites throughout the state of Illinois. This project-based technology institute is tailored to meet the needs of training teachers and administrators in technology and emphasizes ways to integrate technology in conjunction with Illinois and Engaged Learning standards. Illinois CPDUs and University of Illinois graduate credit can be earned.

Novice Teacher Support Project (NTSP)

NTSP offers programs and professional development opportunities to first-fourth year teachers. Services include electronic mentoring, summer classes and assistance in developing a state-approved plan for moving from Initial to Standard Certification. See how NTSP can help you face the unique challenges you'll encounter in these first years of your new career.

Curriculum Technology and Education Reform (CTER)
Online Master's Degree

CTER was created to serve practicing teachers and administrators with a focus on Curriculum, Technology, and Education Reform (CTER) . This online set of courses offers an opportunity to earn a coherent, high-quality master's degree online, with most of the interactions through personal computers and Internet connections at home or at local schools.

Human Resources Education (HRE) Online Master's Degree

HRE Online was established in 1998 and is one of the oldest 100% online graduate programs in the world. Offered through the Department of Human Resource Education, HRE Online provides a variety of learning opportunities within several areas of study.  Students can enroll in either the Global HRD Master degree program or the Community College Teaching and Learning Master degree or Professional Development Certificate program.

Global Human Resource Development Online

The Global HRD graduate program is designed for individuals currently working in or aspiring to HRD positions in either the private or public sector.  This program is focused on employee training and development, organization development, and the use of information and technology to improve individual and organizational performance.  Emphasis is placed on HRD leadership in both domestic and international settings.

Community College Teaching and Learning (CCTL) Online

The CCTL Online curriculum is designed to increase the teaching effectiveness of community college faculty and build the instructional leadership of supervisory personnel. This curriculum is focused on the effective design and implementation of quality instruction, contemporary instructional technologies, and other instruction using innovations such as peer-based collaboration and active learning strategies. The sequence of courses will collectively provide participants with a foundation of instructional theories, skills, and practices to support existing professional development efforts in community colleges.  The CCTL Online curriculum is a cost-effective professional development model that is accessible to all faculty and instructional leaders in community colleges, irrespective of fields of specialization or location.
