9: Interacting via Asynchronous Tools

Once you have completed this section, you should be able to

  • Access your online course content using the NetID and password
  • Navigate the course content in Moodle
  • View your classmates and exchange messages
  • Submit an assignment
  • Post messages and files to a discussion forum

As part of this section, you will be required to access the Education Online course management system referred to as Moodle. To access Moodle, it is very important that you setup your Active Directory (AD) login and password (if you haven't already).

1. To create/change the AD password, visit: http://passwords.cites.uiuc.edu. You can only change your password once per 24 hours.
2. Enter your Bluestem (Master) NetID and password to enter the system, then click “CITES Passwords” to set your password.
3. Enter new password two times and click on "Set Passwords" button.

Accessing Moodle does not require any software other than your web browser. Click the link above (in the blue tutorials box) to view the video or PDF showing the steps you must take to gain access and use Moodle.

Once you have finished the tutorial, go to the Education Online Portal and login to your course using your AD username and password. (Note: The Education Online Portal will open in a separate browser window so you can have both the orientation and course pages open at the same time.) Upon successful login, you will have access to the course home page and content, syllabus, and conferences, etc.
