Are You Ready to Begin Your Education.Online Course?

Before you begin our Student Orientation, we would like you to complete the readiness checklist below. We have developed this checklist for assessing your readiness to take an onlinecourse. In order for you to have the most trouble-free Education Online experience possible, we ask that you please take this opportunity to assess your readiness for beginning your Education Online program.

[Education.Online Readiness Checklist]

The Education Online readiness checklist is composed of 3 levels, access readiness, technology readiness, and course readiness with simple self-checkpoints. Please proceed through the checklist, beginning with level 1. This will help you identify what you need to know and where to begin among the 11 orientation sections . Complete all tasks in the sections of the Student Orientation and make sure you feel comfortable with each section before moving on.

  Access Readiness: Are you ready to take any Education.Online course?

Do you know your Net ID & passwords?
(Are you familiar with all your different passwords?)

 If not, go to section 2: Passwords

Have you registered for your online program or course?

Do you need information for online registration and billing?
Are you familiar with using or redirecting UIUC email?
 If not, go to section 7: UIUC Email

  Technology Readiness: Are you ready to begin your Education.Online course?
Do you know the technology requirements you need to adhere to before beginning your Education.Online course (hardware, software, & computer skills needed)?
Do you know what software you need for your Education.Online course? (for PC or Mac)
 If not, go to Student Software

Do you have a headset or a microphone ready to use?

 If not, go to section 6: Audio, Video & Messaging
Even if you answered “Yes” to this question, we strongly recommend that you review the section

Are you familiar with the asynchronous tool used in Education. Online, Moodle?
Are you familiar with the synchronous tool used in Education. Online, Elluminate?

  Course Readiness: Are you familiar with your course information?
Are you familiar with your course information (course structure, schedule, instructor, etc.)?
Do you need information about library access, writing assistance, and online course evaluations?
Do you have any specific course related inquiries?

Please note that we strongly recommend that you view Student Orientation section 6 : Audio, Video & Messaging before your synchronous practice session. It will help you clear out some potential problems which might occur during the synchronous session (via Elluminate). Also, please note that you can always come back to this page and find the information you need in the future.
