Learning & Behavior Specialist
Learning & Behavior Specialist II (LBS) provides students a part-time learning opportunity that develops highly skilled, innovative Multiple Disabilities Specialists, who have expertise in educating students with severe and multiple disabilities (e.g. intellectual disabilities, autism, traumatic brain injury, complex health care needs, orthopedic impairments).
Who should apply
This 2.5 year program is designed for practicing professionals who are teaching students with low incidence disabilities in the Chicagoland and Champaign areas. The Learning Behavior Specialist II (LBS II) Master’s Program is an advanced credential available to holders of the following standard or master certificates in Special Education:
- Learning Behavior Specialist I (LBS I)
- Teacher of Students who are Blind or Visually Impaired
- Teacher of Students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing
- Speech-Language Pathologist
Thus, admission to the LBS II program is contingent upon initial certification in Special Education. Students who enter an LBS II program must have met all standards associated with the initial certification they hold.
