Flaw in Computerized Testing System Found
Educational Psychology Professor Hua-Hua Chang along with his colleague Dr. Zhiliang Ying from Columbia University are the winners of the 2008 NCME (National Council on Measurement in Education) Award for Outstanding Example of Application of Educational Measurement Technology to a Specific Problem. The specific problem that they tackled was to identify a design flaw in the computerized testing system which failed to generate reliable scores for thousands of GRE and GMAT test takers from 2000 to 2002. They proposed a theory and presented both analytical and empirical evidence to support their hypothesis.
The award ceremony will be held at the 2008 AERA/NCME Annual Meetings, March 23-27, 2008 in New York City.
