HRE Faculty receives NSF award for workshop

by The College of Education / Apr 19, 2011

Russ Korte, Assistant Professor in the HRD program, and his colleagues received an award from the National Science Foundation for their proposal to develop and conduct a workshop focused on the philosophical foundations of engineering and engineering education. The workshop will address questions about the definition of engineering, the aims of engineering education, and efforts to bring greater coherence to our understanding and practice of engineering education. This workshop will include eminent philosophers from Europe and the U.S. as well as a group of experienced engineering educators from around the world. An important outcome of this event will lead to an ongoing community focused on engineering education philosophy. The workshop will take place at the Frontiers in Education conference in October 2011.
