VEYA - SPSF Tutoring/Mentoring Programs
Visionaries Educating Youths & Adults(" VEYA") Single Parent Scholarship Foundation ("SPSF"), are two
community-based organizations collaborating with the University of Illinois College of Education's Department of Educational Policy Studies (EPS) to provide tutoring/mentoring services to at-risk African American youths. This is a community initiative, that will focus on improving the academic achievements of African American youths.
The program takes place Tuesday and Thursday, from 4pm-6pm, the youths will focus on homework assignment, advanced curriculum and culture awareness, educational field trips in return this will help the youths build self confidence and give them the opportunity to learn, discuss, and research issues that are relevant to their own lives. The program will allow the youths to examine who they are, why they are in their present situation, and what choices are available to them in the future.
