Philosophy of Education Conferences
The Philosophy of Education program recognizes the importance to scholarly development of participation in professional conferences, including the presentation of original scholarly work. Students in the Philosophy of Education are encouraged to prepare and submit work for presentation at national and regional conferences; whenever possible, financial assistance is provided to help partially defray travel expenses.
The leading national organization in philosophy of education is the Philosophy of Education Society . Regional branches include the Midwest Philosophy of Education Society and the Ohio Valley Philosophy of Education Society . A complete list of regional societies can be found here .
The American Philosophical Association has a philosophy of education interest group (APE) as well as the Society for Women in Philosophy (SWIP), and Philosophy of Education Society of Great Britain. The International Network for Philosophers of Education (INPE) sponsors an international conference biannually. The American Educational Research Association has a Philosophical Studies Special Interest Group and also includes the John Dewey Society . Finally, the American Educational Studies Association features philosophical work on its program.
