Program Summary
This Master of Education degree in Educational Organization and Leadership (EOL) represents an opportunity to build upon the shared expertise of EOL faculty across our two program areas of Higher Education (HE) and Educational Administration and Leadership (EAL). This program strives to develop primary, secondary, and post secondary educational leaders, administrators, and policy analysts who seek to understand and address critical P-12 and higher education issues. Students will study different educational leadership and policy practices and theories with particular focus paid to educational access, equity, and excellence. Students in this program will have the opportunity to specialize in P-12 leadership and policy or in higher education and policy. This program targets a national and international audience interested in P-12 teacher and educational leadership, higher education, and P-20 educational policy. This program does not provide administrative licensure, neither General Administrative (Type 75) nor Superintedency.
This program strives for the following student objectives:
- Enhance ability to understand critical issues in P-12 learning environments.
- Enhance ability to understand critical issues in higher education.
- Examine and critique public policy analytic frameworks and consider their application to educational learning environment spanning diverse P-12 to higher education contexts.
- Participate in an environment in which theories are explored within authentic, timely contexts through the integration of exemplary practice case studies.
- Examine and critique leadership frameworks and theories of educational leadership.
- Understand policy issues influencing P-12 and higher education.
- Identify how dynamic leadership is crucial to successful learning environments.
- Expand knowledge base on learning theories and their instructional implications and convert proven learning theories into practical solutions to develop policy for P-20 contexts.

Tuition/Financial Aid
Tuition – The current tuition and fee rate is $503/credit hour (USD) or $2012 for each 4-hour course and $908 for 2-hour courses. Again, this does include both tuition and fees. Reading or other course materials are not included in this amount. The tuition and fee rate is the same for in-state, out-of-state, and international students. The cost for future courses is subject to moderate changes in accordance with the actions of the University of Illinois Board of Trustees.
Illinois E-Billing –The University of Illinois is implementing an electronic billing (E-Bill) program for students. Each month, all UI students will receive an e-mail notification to their official University e-mail account, stating that their E-Bill is available. Financial Aid and Scholarships
Financial Aid is available in the form of:
- Veteran/Military Grants
- Student Aid Loans
Students who are on the standard two-year program are eligible for financial aid each semester. All students are eligible for financial aid in the Summer.
- Summer: Must be enrolled in a minimum 3 credit hours of courses.
- Spring or Fall: Must be enrolled in a minimum 6 credit hours of courses.
To qualify, a student must be accepted into a degree-seeking program.

This is a self-supporting program and DOES NOT accept the following tuition and fee waivers (TFWs): Cooperating Teacher waivers, Non-Academic waivers (including University of Illinois employees and employees of other state institutions), Academic waivers from the University of Illinois, U of I-Chicago and U of I-Springfield employees, Related Agency waivers, Field Supervisor waivers or Retiree waivers.
This program DOES accept statutory waivers (veterans grants, etc) and waivers granted through fellowships/assistantships as governed by the Graduate College at Illinois. The waiver policy above is subject to moderate changes in accordance with the actions of the University of Illinois Board of Trustees.
On-campus master's degree programs in the College of Education do accept tuition waivers.

»All courses will hold a weekly online synchronous session. Synchronous sessions for most courses will be held on Wednesdays, 6:00-8:00pm, CST. Attendance for all synchronolus sessions is required. When two courses are held during the same term, then the alternate time for the synchronous sessions will be announced at that time.«
