Editing Home Pages
There are six editable regions at your disposal here. Each one is described below along with some recommendations.
WARNING: When editing these regions, be careful of adding elements (images, tables) which will push the page horizontally past the top banner. If you use a table or image in any of these small content areas and you notice the page expanding, be sure to specify widths of your tables/images to get the width of the region within the maximum allowed as stated below:
- Spotlight (336 pixels maximum)
- The "spotlight" region is your attention grabber
-- put here what you most want your primary audience to see.
For academic units, this is probably some marketing/recruiting
material, for others upcoming events or awards, while others,
perhaps a mission statement.
The maximum aggregate width of elements in this table cell should not exceed 336 pixels. - Spotlight2 (142 pixels maximum)
- Text for "testimonials" or whatever you feel is next most important for your target audience to see -- and which benefits from a photo/image -- should go here.
- Spotlight2photo (56-60 pixels maximum)
- This region is intended for a photo to go along with the "spotlight2" text and the design doesn't afford a lot of room here. The region is, by default, centered so the picture is centered; however, if you add a caption below the picture, we recommend that you right-justify the text.
- Content1, Content2, Content3 (178 pixels maximum each)
- These regions are here for whatever you need them for.
Here is a listing of just some of the possibilities the design
team envisioned:
- News
- Calendar
- Employment/Scholarship Opportunities
- Recruitment/Testimonial
